“You Have No Social Media? Weird.”

A little look at what my husband uses his smartphone for. And no, it’s not social media.

Don’t you feel it’s almost impossible to find someone who does not use social media? In 2020, the number of people using social media is over 3.81 billion globally, with the average user having 8.6 accounts on different networking sites. That’s a lot.

Social media has turned into a way for us to connect with people online, create new friendships, post content, and share our thoughts. Because nearly everything needs registration these days, I usually refer to inactive online activity as not having social media.

Last night I posted this on Twitter. Surprisingly, a lot of the replies were saying they don’t know if they can be together with someone they can’t laugh at memes with. Some even thought that maybe a man with no social media has a second phone or number. There were others asking “Where can I find a man like this?”

My husband is one of those people who has no social media. He is 2 years younger than me. People his age are usually tweeting or uploading photos, but not my husband. No Twitter, no Instagram, doesn’t update about his life and is not interested in making random friends. Except for the occasional baby pictures on Facebook (which you will know why…
