This reminds me of earlier during Malaysia’s quarantine, our national helpline for domestic abuse started getting 57% more calls than usual. 1–2 weeks later, the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (the ministry overseeing the helpline) released an infographic on how to avoid tension in marriage during a lockdown. They recommended wearing makeup and looking good at home, and talking to your husband in a cute voice like Doraemon.

Of course, they got a lot of backlash for it and finally took it down. But imagine how tonedeaf one needs to be to release an infographic like that when domestic abuse is on the rise?!

(Not to mention that their initial plan was to shut down the helpline altogether during quarantine, a decision they revoked after getting backlash from activists and non-profit groups)
